Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet chavan, all rajasthan players have been accused for spot fixing. They have been arrested by the Delhi police for fulfilling the promise they made to their bookmakers during the IPL, 2013. The players were promised  IRS. 20 lakhs to IRS. 60 lakhs
for each over they bowl. Even the bookmakers were arrested and taken into custody, one of them who was identified as Jiju Janardhan, a close friend of Sreesanth. Though these people were arrested on 15th May, 2013, the police were keeping an eye on them since April and they were not able to take any further action because there was no any evidence regarding the allegation.
The evidence was based upon the recording of the phone calls which were made by the bookies to the players before the match. To add to that there were three matches which showed the evidence of spot fixing- against Kings XI Punjab on May 9, Mumbai Indians on May 15 and against Pune warriors India on May 5. The deal was based upon number of runs the bowler had to concede in the pre-decided over. Basically, Sreesanth indicated the bookies that he is ready to bowl the pre-decided over by tucking down a towel in his pant whereas Ajit Chandila, putting his collars up and looking up towards the sky. Police investigation showed up that the Mumbai Underworld was involved in cricket corruption. To add to that these players were in constant touch with the bookmakers and Police waited patiently for them to go through with their fixes before they arrest them.
Police has also hinted that there may be overseas connection let alone the underworld. The anti corruption unit employed by the cricket organizers were not even aware about what was going on. More arrests of the bookies is likely possible in the  coming days.
